Week 7: Roofing, Rough Trades and Room Design

Well last week was quite exciting with all the framing that was done over the holiday weekend. I know these things are probably routine for the workers, but we are very grateful and want to be intentional about expressing our gratitude to those who do all the work often with little appreciation from those who benefit most from their labors–us, the homeowners. So, I stopped by our house on Saturday and Monday to thank the workers and to give them Subway gift cards as a very small token of appreciation.

This week our PM hopes to have the roofing material delivered and installed. Once the roof is on they will start with the rough-trades (plumbing, heating & cooling, electrical components etc), possibly starting the rough HVAC work by the end of this week.

We were able to walk through the house today with our PM, but I didn’t take any photos. I’m gonna wait for the pre-dry wall meeting and take lots of photos then.

Instead, I thought I’d post our design idea we’ve been working on for our master bedroom. We used www.havenly.com and worked with a wonderful designer on their team! We can order all our items directly from their site. We didn’t have to do any store hopping or shopping (we’re not big shoppers) and we have a lovely master bedroom to look forward to.

  2. This looks like it was so much fun to do! I love the room! I noticed in your “about me” section that you graduated from N.C. State (go wolfpack!). I graduated from Meredith College, right up the street. 🙂

    1. Thanks! We have a local designer helping us with our family room and our son’s room, and that has been fun too. But I think I like Havenly better. It was pretty efficient. I feel a lot more ownership of the process and design, and we can take our time making our purchases. There’s never any pressure to buy right away. Enjoy this process!

  5. Hello, we are building a Milan in MD. I really enjoyed this blog post. Now I am considering using Havenly as well. Would you recommend your designer?
