Week 13: Tile, Cabinetry, Molding, Room Design, Photos

Today was like Christmas Eve! It was a day filled with anticipation for the “big day”. We walked through our home with all the walls up and cabinetry in and it was such a reality check! We love our home and feel so blessed with this place of rest and relaxation and fun for our family, and this place of hospitality and joy and peace for all we have the honor of hosting in it. We can’t wait for the big day. However, unlike Christmas, the big day is not tomorrow but 28 days from now when we close on our new home.

In preparation, we’ve been doing a lot of thinking and space planning. With the help of Havenly, we’ve settled on our master bedroom design. We also found a local designer to help us with our family room and our son’s room. If you live in the DC, northern VA, Baltimore area, feel free to look her up. She has a wonderful eye for design, is very patient and willing to work with your budget and aesthetic. It’s been a blast and I love not having to bounce around from store to store to find just the right furnishings for our home.

Photos of today’s walk through and our room designs are below. Enjoy!

We didn’t get the round chair and we’re still deciding on the entertainment unit.

  1. Everything looks so AMAZING!!! I love the trim package you guys chose for your dining room! It makes the room look so elegant!
And thank you for sharing the link for Havenly – I’ll definitely look into using their help for designing some of our rooms 🙂

  2. Oh my word!! This is really real now!!! You must be so excited!! I like what you did with both Havenly and the local designer! Have you decided yet whether or not your are going to go ahead and paint now instead of waiting a year? Some bloggers seem to be waiting and others are not. We are not even closing until either the end of December or the beginning of January – – but I’m already wondering about this stuff.

    1. Yes! We’re super excited. The design help has taken a lot of stress off, but we’ll probably do more on our own once we settle in. We’ve gone back and forth, but right now we’re only painting my son’s room and probably waiting to paint the rest after our one year.

  3. Everything is looking great! It’s so neat seeing everything come together, and know exactly where everything is since we have the same house!
We don’t have a fireplace, but I love where yours is! That’s exactly where we have our TV set up. We have our couch set up differently to keep the room open with the kitchen. We LOVE the design so much!!
Congrats, and the next 28(ish) days should FLY by!!

    1. Thanks! I definitely use your blog as one of my “go-to’s” since our homes are just alike. I hope you keep posting updates a little longer so I know what kinds of things to look forward to/look out for :-).
